A friend in the fountain pen industry recommended Galen Leather notebooks. I watched a number of YouTube reviews on this notebook and decided to give it a shot. I am so glad that I did! This notebook just lays open when writing. The smooth pages offer a fantastic writing experience with my fountain pen. Also enjoy the leather piece that was shared with it. The lined and grid options are also a nice touch. I also just received the Zipfolio for my notebook, and I absolutely love it! It’s beautifully made. It fits five Kaweco Sports (four inside, one outside), my todo-list and a tiny notebook. I absolutely love it. And shipping was faster than expected.
So, I bought this a5 folio in Crazy Horse Orange, + a 5 slot zippered pen case, also in C.H Orange. They are just beautiful!! ^_^ So strongly built and thoughtfully designed; I'm in love. ♡ I even had matching sketchbooks made to fit inside each :) ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ - these covers are the stuff of dreams! ^_^
I love Galen leather. I haven’t gotten around to using these yet but I have no worries that they will perform. My only regret is that I didn’t buy the matching Carmine red 2 pen case to go with them. Galen Leather is one of my favorite brands, I recommend them all the time.
I love my new fountain pen case. It’s so useful to have a removable part that for 4 pens which I use most frequently. The color is gorgeous! The leather and craftsmanship is great!

An exquisite find - a real treat! A deeply rich Carmine red leather that is just beautiful. Easy to carry along in a handbag, it weighs next to nothing. It’s also a whole day’s worth of writing instruments in the palm of your hand. The description says it fits in two Kaweco or pocket sized pens. I currently have THREE Sports in here. The find of the year. Just get it, Kaweco fans!
Lovely idea for a pen case that can carry a notebook or notepad. I tried it with Leonardo and Leuchtturm together. Beautiful! I also love the classic style of the undyed leather. Can we get this in yellow next?
This is a wonderful case for every day carry, for focusing on just the pens you might need in a meeting. The A5 slot allows you to use both a notebook or a writing pad, so it is versatile. I haven’t yet tried it with both a Leuchtturm notebook AND my chunkier Leonardo pens. These fit nicely in the ‘big pen’ sits through, so I think it will work out fine. A beautiful, beautiful case in a sober blue colour that is a wonderful offset to vibrant stationery.
The first time I saw this beautiful piece online I was a little skeptical with the practicality aspect. How can something this beautiful be practical? I searched for other types of product like this to compare and let me tell you; this is the one. Others are equally or even more expensive but made with cheap materials like compressed wood, plastic or polyurethane, and poorly constructed too. This beauty is stunning. The wood is beautiful and smells incredible, the metal pieces work perfectly, the inside has a lot of practical elastic loops, and is really spacious. Obviously there are some limitations on what you can put in it, like a bulky pencil case or big jars of ink but this is to have a writing or painting surface on the go so I only put in essentials and travel compact stuff. I do calligraphy, I sketch, do watercolour paintings, I have a Travelers Notebook with a daily journal, wallet, monthly planner on it, and I am a writer so I love to have a lot on me. When the inspiration comes, and even though I write on my computer, analoge help my memory and my creativity to flow so this is perfect for me. I have three settings or combinations. Calligraphy and my Travelers, painting tools with my Travelers or some days I put my Travelers in my purse and have my calligraphy and painting travel kit in the Writing Box. I have enough space to put a small mirror, tea bags, lip balms, hand cream, eyeglasses and other trinkets that I like to have on hand. Another aspect of these Writing Box is the leather strap. Some reviewers said it is time consuming or is not comfortable or easy to put on. For me it is a question of expectation. Of course it is more quick to toss everything in a tote bag and go but that is an unfair comparison and we are buying this because it is a briefcase that you can use as a desk not just a bag. I never use the snaps or buttons on the strap, I slide the desk on the loops and it is more easy and quick that way; only seconds, and for me that is reasonable. Another use for me is a temporary base for my laptop. Is not meant for that but works just fine. If you are buying this because of the aesthetic I recommend the Burl Walnut version. It is more beautiful and for 50$ more I think is worth it, looks more luxurious and special. My only suggestion for Galenleather is to create more add ons for this Writhing Box like other types of strap to carried differently, removable pen holder for the loops, some kind of pouch to put on the straps, so when the Writing Box is your only carrying “bag” you can access some stuff more easily like credit cards, keys or money. I will buy all of the gadgets you design for this desk because I carried this beauty everywhere. My own bed, dining table, my car, cafes, parks, everywhere. I also want to add that this came with a free cotton bag, cute stickers, tea, a postcard, a leather pen holder, and more. Came to Puerto Rico really fast for something that was so far away too. Thanks Galenleather for this Writhing Box. I will continue to buy more of your incredible designs.
This colour is so gorgeous! It's such a deep blue, depending on the light it even looks black.
I really love it. The quality is also super nice and you always get extra stuff with each order (stickers, tea, nazar charm,...).
No happy with the globe it’s upside down and some of the city capitals you are unable to read. I notified customer service they told me to send picture which I did and have never heard back. It was a gift for someone and I and the person receiving it were definitely not satisfied.
I'm glad I bought this pen case as the quality is really great. I have no regrets.
This box arrived in very good time to the UK, despite coming from overseas. It's a good size, the wood is beautifully finished; it feels like a quality product that is worthy of my best fountain pens. Amazon are selling some cheap knock offs of this product made in China, but they don't look anywhere like as good quality as this, and it was important to me to be able to support a family business.
Just a couple of points that have made me rate this as 4* rather than 5*
-The leather lining the back is very soft indeed, and marks very easily. It won't look this good for long.
-The metal logo is in the wrong place. It's quite thick, and interferes with the writing surface, and its edges are quite sharp. I'm seriously thinking about unscrewing it and taking it off altogether, although that would leave the screw holes which would need to be filled. It would have been much better to put this elsewhere, leaving the writing surface completely clear.
If you could sort these out, it would be perfect.
This carrier for the writing box is a simple, but effective design, and nicely made. If you could use four press studs on each side, it would keep the box secure. Unfortunately, it doesn't fit my box very well- it could do with being 5mm or so longer. I can only do it up on one set of press studs, so unless I can find a way of stretching it means I probably won' be using it much.
I ordered purple because it's more unique than normal leather. Overall, I really like this product.
The leather is pretty good, the fabric is great, and the zipper moves very smoothly.
The reason I posted the pictures together is that I know that different people and I have different tastes, but there are some regrets about the case. Usually, small fountain pens will be put in and closed in the case without any problems, but those with a larger size will definitely find it too much. Pilot's regular pens are fine, but 823 is too much, Sailor's KOP is too much, and Platinum pens are usually thin and small... OPUS88 or Leonardo momento zero-class or Monblanc 149 is also too much. First of all, the length is a little short. The space when it is closed is a little too much. I think it would be great if the length or width increased by 1cm.
Sure....it's okay if you put in a decent set of pens that aren't big, but it's still too much to put all 10 of them in and lock them. You can tell from my picture, but I was worried that the pen would break when I saw the picture I took it closed. It was so full ^^
Previously, I bought a Galen case and my second purchase was a fountain pen....I saw the color on the screen and loved it so much that I ordered it without hesitation...I was very flustered as soon as I opened the box with high expectations...I thought I had a pen that wasn't my order. There's very little green on the homepage...It's all made up of white, orange, yellow, and purple combinations...I spent a day feeling disappointed that this wasn't what I wanted...I consulted and asked for a return...and changed my mind while preparing to wrap the return.
It's a pen that came to me anyway, so let's think of it as fate. I wanted a color like a Leonardo fountain pen, but I thought this is also a memorial. So I decided to just use it.

A little bit of feedback... a little scratchy feel, but I like it because it's soft overall. Maybe I'll like it more over time...

Of course, I understood that the color may be slightly different when purchasing, but I think there is a problem with more than 50% difference.
Look at the picture I posted and the color of the product on the Galen website. How can I see this as the same?....Order is to imagine by referring to the product picture on the website and make a definite decision that you can receive the color of the design. But when you receive it, think that your expectations are low. I understand that the pen case can be slightly bright or dark leather, but I think there should be a clearer and stricter standard for a pen that mixes such pretty colors.
I received it on April 11th and keep the world's top three fountain pens.
I like it because it is small, thin, sturdy.

Owner is saying this finish is because of the normal part of the manufacturing process and has stopped responding. The sides of the leather has these abnormal scratches and marks. I have never seen this kind of finish on leather. I am thoroughly disappointed, I thought I would be buying so many more items from Galen but I guess I was wrong.
Lovely case but mine looked more weathered and used than expected. Wasn’t sure it was worth going back to them on this as they caveat variations, but mine looked more grubby /dirty than I’d have liked. Otherwise, a perfect solution size wise for my Traveler’s brass pen.
